About Newfoundland Puppies

Newfoundlands are our large breed of choice due to their sweet temperament that the breed standard calls “the most important single characteristic of the breed.” The Newfoundland is a majestic dog with proud head carriage and wears a soft, soulful expression. The outer coat is flat and coarse with gray, brown, black, or black-and-white coloring. These “gentle giants” love playing with kids, are up to date on shots, and are dewormed. They come with a health guarantee and a one year genetic warranty.

Size & Care

A male Newfoundland may weigh up to 150 pounds and stand 28 inches at the shoulder, while adult females typically weigh 100 to 120 pounds. Due to their heavy coat, a thorough brushing and combing is required at least weekly to remove dead hair and prevent mats from forming. Though meant to live indoors with their human family, Newfoundlands need at least a half hour of moderate exercise daily to stay healthy and happy and enjoy outdoor activities like swimming, long walks, and hikes.

Character & Temperament

Trusting and trainable, Newfoundlands respond well to gentle guidance and are wonderful with children. In addition to being devoted family companions, they are at home on both land and water and exhibit natural skills for draft work and water rescue! Never timid, skittish, or aggressive, a Newfoundland puppy requires daily human contact and is an outgoing, intelligent, and curious companion.
